What is SoundAboutPhilly

SoundAboutPhilly is a new series of free, customizable sound-seeing tours told by "real" Philadelphians. The stories are accompanied by dynamic mapping, audio, text and vivid photography that provide a more intimate illustration of Philadelphia and can help you find your way around once you arrive.

Concentrated on insider, lesser-known Philadelphia experiences, SoundAboutPhilly combines interesting tales, fun facts and lively music to tell not only stories from the city's rich past, but also its vibrant present. You’ll hear about our nation’s founding and the heroes and heroines who struggled for freedom centuries ago, but you’ll soon discover that Philadelphia is a city that is not stuck in the past. Dynamic mapping is included with each tour segment which indicates where the segment begins. If you like what you hear, send the tour on to a friend.

You can subscribe to SoundAboutPhilly to be notified when new tours are added and/or have the latest tours delivered to you automatically.

Soundaboutphilly.com will grow over time as a living space for oral information about the city and region, where downloadable tours will live in the future. And, as Philadelphia becomes an increasingly wireless city, the audio tours will be accessible to anyone with a wireless Internet connection.

How do I listen to a SoundAboutPhilly Tour?
You may listen to any tour directly on the SoundAboutPhilly Web site, download a tour or specific segments to iTunes or other audio player or sign up for an RSS feed to receive a new tour each time one is uploaded to the Web site. You may download the tours in the order presented or shuffle the tour segments and design your own.

More information is available on the Help page, which is also found at the top right corner of each SoundAboutPhilly page.
