The 68th Annual Chester County Day
House Tour

October 4, 2008
10 a.m. - 5 p.m., $35

Exquisite architecture, beautiful interior design, incredible landscaping, private collections of art and antiques and historic renovations – you will be truly inspired by the 25 homes and historic landmarks on the 68th Annual Chester County Day House Tour. 

Homes are open from 10am until 5pm and this year’s tour focuses on the countryside of Southwestern Chester County.

Revolutionary Germantown Festival
October 4, 2008
10 a.m. - 6 p.m., FREE

You are never far from history when in Germantown, one of Philadelphia’s most historic neighborhoods. However, it is on full display during the Revolutionary Germantown Festival, a day-long festival that celebrates the rich history of Germantown and features the annual reenactment of the Battle of Germantown, the only military battle ever fought within the borders of Philadelphia.

Some of the Philadelphia region’s top pretzel makers will once again come to Independence Mall in hopes of claiming the title of the city’s best doughy delight. Watch as pretzel makers twist away and see who does it the best. Local celebrities, including Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross, will be in attendance to assist in the decision-making regarding this year’s categories. 

 

Oktoberfest
Doylestown Township Central Park
October 4-6, 2008
Friday:  6:00 pm- 10:00 pm; Saturday:  Noon-10:00 pm; Sunday: Noon - 6:00 pm

Oktoberfest is an award-winning regional festival held the first weekend in October in Doylestown's Central Park, off Wells Road. This unique event features a continuous schedule of recreational and educational opportunities for all ages including a unique blend of staged entertainment, food, a family expo, vendors, games, rides, hole-in-one and much more.

Annual Apple Butter Frolic
Mennonite Heritage Center
October 4, 2008
10 a.m. - 5 p.m., $6 Adults and $2 Kids 

The Frolic celebrates the harvest season with delicious Pennsylvania German food, fun activities for children and interesting folk craft and farming demonstrations.

Children will enjoy activities such as the horse-drawn wagon rides, making corn husk dolls, hay bale tunnel, and the one room school house. And adults will enjoy watching demonstrations of traditional crafts such as rug hooking, bobbin lace, quilting and fraktur drawing.
