Homes are open from 10am until 5pm and this year’s tour focuses on the countryside of Southwestern Chester County. Tickets purchased in advance are $35. However, it is on full display during the Revolutionary Germantown Festival, a day-long festival that celebrates the rich history of Germantown and features the annual reenactment of the Battle of Germantown, the only military battle ever fought within the borders of Philadelphia. | | Independence Visitor Center’s 4th Annual “Battle of the Soft Pretzels” Independence Visitor Center October 3, 2008, FREE Some of the Philadelphia region’s top pretzel makers will once again come to Independence Mall in hopes of claiming the title of the city’s best doughy delight. Watch as pretzel makers twist away and see who does it the best. Children will enjoy activities such as the horse-drawn wagon rides, making corn husk dolls, hay bale tunnel, and the one room school house.
