Rodeph Shalom
615 N. Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19123
As if being the oldest Ashkenazic congregation in the Western Hemisphere isn’t enough history. This spectacular synagogue, designed by Frank Furness, also features displays of historic Judaica.
The synagogue is an outstanding example of the Byzantine style. Both the exterior and interior walls are covered with painted and carved geometric designs executed by the D’Ascenzo Studios.
The sanctuary is lit by a large pendentive dome and contains handsome stained glass windows and a beautiful ark, supported on marble columns.
