Church of the Advocate / Art Sanctuary

During an era of tumult, Father Washington offered refuge to the Black Panthers and other social activists. Today, his ministry and social program live on in this North Philadelphia church.
Art Sanctuary is located at the historic Church of the Advocate in the heart of North Philadelphia and features performances by well-known poets and hip-hop artists, as well as book signings and family workshops.
