BOARD MEMBER
Jonathan
Newman, Chairman Of The Liquor Control Board, Fills Vacancy
Philadelphia, June 11, 2004 — The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) announces the appointment of Jonathan Newman to its board of directors, effective immediately.
Newman is currently chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB), where he is serving his second four-year term. Since joining the PLCB in 1999, Newman has spearheaded the development of several major marketing and alcohol education initiatives. During his tenure, the PLCB has introduced competitive pricing, broadened the selection of wine offerings, introduced Sunday sale hours, enhanced employee training and opened an online store, among many other successful initiatives. In 2003, Newman was named “Man of the Year” by Wine Enthusiast for his work in creating Pennsylvania’s profile as a wine-friendly state.
The Montgomery County resident serves as a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the Montgomery County Board of Drug Abuse Resistance Education. Newman is the 2004 recipient of the Pink Ribbon award from the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and the 2004 Award of Merit winner from the American Wine Society.
