THE ROAD FROM PHILLY TO LANCASTER: GETTING THERE IS HALF THE FUN
Travelers Can Mix
And Match Six Hotel Packages For Easy And Affordable Pennsylvania Travel
Philadelphia, May 17, 2004 — It’s time to get on the road! With six hotel packages available through the American Automobile Association (AAA), it’s now easier than ever for travelers to take to the highways of Pennsylvania and explore the state, particularly the scenic thoroughfare found between Philadelphia and Lancaster (and don’t forget nearby Gettysburg and Hersheypark). Always a favorite road-trip pair for travelers, these remarkably different towns are now being marketed as a great vacation twosome through a collaboration between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) and Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitors Bureau.
“In just one weekend, visitors can take in the simplicity of the Amish Country and the hustle of city life in Philadelphia while enjoying some breathtaking scenery along the way,” says Mickey Rowley, Deputy Secretary for Tourism, Department of Community Economic Development. “It’s a natural pairing that’s already popular, and we’re convinced that the AAA hotel package offerings will spur even more trips between the two regions.”
The six packages include accommodations, at least one meal and attraction tickets. Here’s a look:
Super$aver Philadelphia: Starting at $99 per couple, per night
Family Philadelphia: Two nights starting at $269 per couple
HistoriCOOL Philadelphia: Two nights starting at $279 per couple
Dutch Country Sampler: One-night starting at $190 per couple
Hershey/Dutch Family Fun: Two nights starting at $250 per couple
For travel package information, visitors should consult their AAA travel counselor or visit www.gophila.com/AAA or www.padutchcountry.com/AAA.
The AAA state cooperative campaign is a multi-year program designed to encourage automobile travel in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Collaborating with the Pennsylvania Tourism Office are the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC), the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PCVB) and the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau.
