Osteria Details
Osteria owner and chef Marc Vetri is turning heads — literally. He's bringing diners to North Broad Street, away from the dining epicenters of Old City, Midtown Village and Rittenhouse Square. And he's doing it with pizza.
Marc Vetri, who was
recently profiled
in
The New York Times
, is also the creative force behind
Vetri
, Osteria's Center City sibling.
But for now, Osteria is the sibling in the limelight.
Philadelphia Magazine
recently ranked Osteria as the
city's best restaurant
. And it's easy to understand why — Osteria serves outstanding, gourmet cuisine in an unpretentious, lively and fun space.
Cuisine
Osteria features a traditional Italian menu consisting of thin crust pizzas, homemade pastas and wood-grilled meats and fish.
But in a menu full of enticing toppings — like squash, sweetbreads, and even caviar — the Lombarda pizza stands out for its startling medley of toppings. The gourmet pizza comes flanked with bitto cheese, mozzarella and cotechino sausage, finally topped with a baked egg.
Other specialties include the rabbit casaligna with panceta and sage; wood oven-baked cod with tondini beans and broccoli; and the elaborate rib-eye fiorentina, meant for a couple to share.
To complement your meal, choose from Osteria's 100-bottle Italian wine list — and afterwards, definitely try the decadent Nutella pizza.
