Citizens Bank Park Details
On April 12, 2004, the Philadelphia Phillies christened their new 43,500-seat Citizens Bank Park. The stadium has lush natural grass and a view of the Philadelphia skyline.
Ashburn Alley, the in-stadium entertainment complex named nostalgically after Phillies’ great Richie Ashburn, features a Memory Lane of Phillies lore, along with batting and throwing games.
But where the ball park really excels is when it comes to food. Recently voted Best Ballpark Eats by the first ever
Food Network Awards
, Citizens Bank Park is a gustatory adventure.
Look out for long lines waiting for an order of delicious crab fries at
Chickie and Pete's
, the famous cheesesteaks at
Rick's Steaks
, sinfully amazing roast pork sandwiches at
Tony Luke's
, and the creative cheesesteak variation from Chestnut Hill's
McNally's
that is the Schmitter.
The stadium also boasts a restaurant that operates even when there is no game in
McFadden's
and plenty of parking. Although SEPTA's
Broad Street Line
is still the best way to get to the game.
Meanwhile, Citizens Bank Park is one of the most kid-friendly ball parks in the country. At the
Phanatic Fun Zone
, youngsters can enjoy the largest play area for kids in the Major Leagues. But that’s just the beginning: kids can build their own Phanatic, rock climb and enjoy dollar dogs and soft drinks all game long.
