THE GREATER PHILADELPHIA TOURISM MARKETING CORPORATION (GPTMC) ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBER John Estey Of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll Is Newest Addition To GPTMC’s Board PHILADELPHIA, May 14, 2008 - The Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) today announced the appointment of John H. Estey to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Estey is currently a partner in the Business & Finance Department and chair of the Government Relations & Regulatory Affairs Group at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP. “GPTMC is thrilled to have John Estey as part of our board,” said Manuel N. Stamatakis, chairman, GPTMC Board of Directors. “He is a dedicated and devoted leader, and we’re looking forward to his contributions.”
In addition to his work at the firm, Estey is Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Independence Visitor Center Corporation. He’s also Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority and serves as Governor Rendell’s designee as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Delaware River Port Authority. Estey previously held significant state and city positions, working as Governor Edward Rendell’s senior advisor and chief of staff. During his tenure as chief of staff, Estey led negotiation teams on four Commonwealth budgets and on several major legislative initiatives. He is also a member of several bar organizations, including the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Philadelphia Bar Association.
