PHILADELPHIA, 2006 - Dr. Dennis Wint has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of The Franklin Institute since 1995. He is responsible for the Institute’s three learning centers: The Science Center, the Center for Innovation in Science Learning, and the Benjamin Franklin Center.
With more than 35 years of experience in the science museum community, Dr. Wint is a key force behind the ‘renaissance’ that the 182-year old museum is experiencing. In keeping with The Franklin Institute’s mission statement to “inspire an understanding of and passion for science and technology learning,” Wint is responsible for the expansion of The Giant Heart permanent exhibit and installation of the Institute’s most recent permanent exhibit, Sir Isaac’s Loft, as well as bringing such blockbuster exhibits as Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition and the record-breaking Body Worlds exhibit to the Franklin Institute.
In April of 2006, Dr. Wint was elected Vice Chair of the prestigious Washington D.C.-based American Association of Museums (AAM), an organization dedicated to enhancing the value of museums to their communities through leadership, advocacy and service. He is also Past President of the Association of Science Technology Centers, the most influential science museum group in the industry, and is active with the Science Centre World Congress.
Previously, Dr. Wint served as President of the St. Louis Science Center, Director of the Cranbrook Institute of Science in Michigan, and Vice President of Philadelphia’s Academy of Natural Sciences. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D from Case Western Reserve University.
Wint currently resides in Philadelphia.
