A Four-Floor Club, Multi-Weekend Circuit Events And Local Dive Bars Bring A Diverse Crowd To A City Great For Lesbians
PHILADELPHIA, February 1, 2007 - Gay nightlife in Philadelphia isn’t all about the men. Lesbian travelers have a vibrant scene all their own with Sisters Nightclub, a seven-days-a-week women’s bar, and themed parties at an array of venues each week. There’s a place in Philadelphia for all kinds of lesbians, from the artist to the activist to the party girl. Here’s a sampling of Philly after dark. For more information, visit www.gophila.com/gay.

Favorite Haunts:

Dance Venues:
- Sisters Nightclub – The city’s largest and most popular lesbian club draws a diverse array of women from the Philadelphia region and beyond. Though open every night, Thursday nights are the hottest here with an all-you-can drink special for $10 from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m.; Friday nights are popular with women of color. Sisters features two bars, a restaurant, a lower level game room and a popular Sunday brunch buffet. 1320 Chancellor Street, (215) 735-0735, www.sistersnightclub.com
- Shampoo – Shaft Fridays at Shampoo sizzle for both men and women. Slightly off the beaten path, this converted warehouse has tons of dance space and an intimate "Latin Lounge" downstairs. 417 N. 8th Street, (215) 922-7500, www.shampooonline.com
- Tavern on Camac – Though mostly men flock to the downstairs piano bar, lesbian women have made the second floor their spot away from Sisters, especially on Friday nights. - Woody's – Though men out number women at Woody's, lesbians often stop by on the weekends during the early hours of the evening before moving on to another destination. 202 S. 13th Street, (215) 545-1893, www.woodysbar.com
