Travel Is Good Business

Research conducted by Community Marketing, based in San
Francisco, California, revealed the following about gay travel
patterns and demographics in the U.S.:
Travel habits of U.S. gay and lesbian travelers over the past 12
months:
- $54.1 billion spent on travel annually
- 91% took vacations 49% took three or more vacations
- 54% took an international vacation
- 82% spent five nights or more in a hotel
- 20% took a cruise U.S.
Gay and Lesbian Demographics:
- 76% have household incomes above the national average ($40,000
or more)
- 26% have household incomes above $100,000
- 84% have a valid passport compared to
- 29% of straight travelers
- 51% budget $1,500-$3,000 per vacation
- 16% budget more than $3,000 per vacation
- 88% are college/university graduates
- 55% hold professional/executive/management positions
- 72% own a computer versus
- 53% of straight households
- 69% have Internet access versus
- 42% of straight households
- 85% purchase travel through travel agents versus
- 42% of straight households
