“GPTMC was one of the first organizations to understand the benefits of marketing Greater Philadelphia as a whole, and their tremendous results over the past 10 years have proven that promoting our entire region as one grand destination is far more effective than many smaller entities trying to go it alone,” says Hugh Long, Wachovia Bank State CEO, Pennsylvania and Delaware. “GPTMC may very well be the best in the business at what they do. We’re proud to partner with them on See America/National Tourism Week and anticipate another banner year of visitors discovering and enjoying this great region.”

On May 17, GPTMC will also release Tourism 2006: A Report to the Industry, which details the significant economic impact that image building, branding and tourism generates for the Greater Philadelphia region’s businesses, hotels, shops, restaurants and attractions. Travelers to Philadelphia spent $6.8 billion in the five-county region in 2004, according to the latest Global Insight study.

Wachovia Corporation (NYSE:WB) is one of the nation’s largest diversified financial services companies, providing 13.4 million household and business relationships with a broad range of banking, asset management, wealth management and corporate and investment banking products and services. Two core businesses operate under the Wachovia Securities brand name: retail brokerage in 49 states and in Latin America, and corporate and investment banking in selected industries nationwide.
