THE PHLASH IS BACK JUST IN TIME FOR THE PHILADELPHIA FLOWER SHOW
During The Popular Annual Event, The Phlash Will Run Until 10:00 P.M.

PHILADELPHIA, February 22, 2006 – The Phlash, Center City Philadelphia’s popular downtown tourist trolley, returns on March 1, 2006, just in time for the Philadelphia Flower Show. The bright purple vehicle runs along Market Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway from Penn’s Landing to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, dropping passengers off at or near many of the city’s most popular tourist destinations. This season, the Phlash has added a new stop at 16th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The service runs through November 30, 2006.

The Phlash will run through 10:00 p.m. from March 6-11, 2006, when the Philadelphia Flower Show is on view at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Visitors to the show will have access to The Hive, a new Ikea-designed lounge area offering appetizers from several Center City restaurants and live entertainment by local musicians from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m.

After the Philadelphia Flower Show, the Phlash, which is managed by the Center City District and operated by the Philadelphia Trolley Works, will offer daily service from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The route is close to 8,000 hotel rooms and 40 places of interest. The Phlash is just $1 every per person, per ride; children under five and senior citizens are free. Riders can also choose a $4 all-day pass or $10 all-day family pass.

One million tourists and residents have taken the Phlash since the service was introduced in 1997 by then Mayor Edward Rendell. Helping to promote ridership on the Phlash are the following partners:
