PHILADELPHIA, December 30, 2005 -Carla Anderson has joined the staff of the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation (GPTMC) as content developer for the company’s “Think Outside” initiative, a project to promote the five-county region’s outdoor assets. Anderson is best known for her work as the “Urban Warrior” at the Philadelphia Daily News, where she penned columns advocating quality of life and social changes in the region.

Set to launch in spring 2006, “Think Outside” is a $1.7 million tourism marketing initiative aimed at publicizing the Philadelphia area’s natural assets and recreational opportunities. Anderson will develop content for a new section of gophila.com focusing on more than 100 outdoor attractions and experiences of interest to leisure visitors.

Anderson brings more than 15 years of experience in journalism and public relations to GPTMC. From 1999 through 2005, she was a columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News. Previously, Anderson was the director of public relations at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She has also reported for the Trenton Times and the Hunterdon County Democrat in New Jersey.

Anderson was born in London, England and raised in Virginia. She studied at the University of Virginia. Anderson now resides in the Fitler Square section of Center City with her husband, dog and two cats.
