-Nobody does New Year’s like Philadelphia. Just
ask the thousands of people watching the Mummers strut up Broad
Street on the first day of every year. Add the spectacular New
Year’s Eve fireworks on Penn’s Landing, a first-rate meal, a dose

admission to the hotel’s annual black-tie gala, which includes
dinner and dancing. Executive chef Martin Hamann will serve seven
courses, while a live band plays the music that aims to get diners

New Year’s Eve:
- The bespangled merriment begins at Mummerfest, an
annual event at the Pennsylvania Convention
Center, where fans can try on costumes, watch brigades

Countdown to Noon rings in 2006 with Mummers, confetti and

- Explore local history at the New Year’s Eve Family
Overnight Encampment on the Battleship New
Jersey. The historic ship is hosting an overnight party
with a tour, a ride in the 4D flight simulator and midnight

- Families can explore flora and fauna at Longwood
Gardens’ New Year’s Eve celebration, which also features

- The Blue Cross RiverRink welcomes 2006 with
its New Year’s Eve Party on Ice, complete with live music,
family activities, food and a fantastic view of the Penn’s

- A rockin’ New Year begins at World Café Live
with an exclusive holiday show starring singer/songwriter Jonatha

New Year’s Day:
- New Year’s wouldn’t be the same without the Mummers
Parade, a day-long affair in which 15,000 clowns, musicians
and dancers strut up Broad Street, leaving a trail of glitter,

- Mummer skill and execution is put to the test at the
Mummers Fancy Brigade Finale, where judges reward the best

- Even The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts
gets into the Mummers spirit on New Year’s Day. Parade spectators
can warm up and enjoy refreshments in the stunning Commonwealth
Plaza lobby or stop in for a New Year’s brunch at
Cadence restaurant, which overlooks the Broad
