Historic Houses: Multicultural Details
The dramatic story of the Underground Railroad is still unfolding at the
Johnson House Historic Site
. More than 160 years after the Quaker abolitionist homeowners hid escaped slaves in the Johnson House, recent archeological studies have revealed even more secrets. A trap door in the attic leading to the roof was recently discovered, adding further evidence to the danger involved in the flight to freedom.
