This is one of Philadelphia’s newer clubs (open since 2001), and one of its most eclectic. Operating in what used to be a Woolworth’s on Germantown Avenue, NXNW offers a mix of jazz, blues, Latin and other forms of world music on a weekly basis. North by Northwest hosts a once-weekly Latin night and has frequent appearances by local samba band Alô Brasil.
There’s a reason Philadelphia Magazine named North by Northwest the “best music venue” in 2004. Lots of reasons actually. The weekly salsa parties, the musical mix that includes everything from Afro-Celt to Zydeco, the easy-going and grown-up atmosphere, and the layout which gives you a great view no matter where you sit (or dance).
And while you are enjoying the eclectic musical line-up you can also enjoy the chef’s eclectic culinary menu that keeps it real by keeping it simple.
