The Experience
Bring tissues because the producers swear you’ll laugh until you cry. This offbeat group of local actors, writers and not-wrapped-too-tight performers celebrates laughter, and they’ll do whatever it takes to make you laugh, too. 1812 presents comic works that come in all forms.
Some shows are based on word play, some are situational, some are dark farces and others are plain old slapstick vaudeville. They even staged a one-woman cabaret show, Mondo Mangia, where Jilline Ringle prepared an Italian meal while performing and then served it to the audience.
History
Cursed, or blessed, with overdeveloped funny bones, the two founders wanted an outlet for local artists to exercise their humor muscles. They made it all formal in 1997 and since then their network of playwrights, actors, clowns and other theater professionals has been making mayhem at various theaters around town.
