Contrary to popular belief, walls do talk. Throughout the region, there are dozens of historic houses whose walls talk a blue streak! They talk about men and women who spoke treasonous thoughts, but only in whispers because to do otherwise could mean imprisonment or worse.
They talk about men who labored at dirty, grueling jobs to give their children a better life. They talk about women who cried in anguish over the death of their infant children. They talk of great wealth, grinding poverty and the struggle to survive.
