Outsider Tip
The name of the farm, Clover Mill, comes from the fact that colonial farmers used the old mill to process the clover seed they used to replenish their soil.
Stepping into the old Carriage House where this wine is made is like stepping back in time. The rolling hills that hug the banks of Pickering Creek, now lined with neat rows of grapes vines, evoke the colonial history of the land.
You won’t see the grist mill that once occupied this site, but there is an original farmhouse on the property, and if you look closely you’ll see traces of the old mill race.
Owners William and Gay Denny grow all their grapes on the property. The vineyard and winery were originally started more than 20 years ago under the name Fox Meadow Farm. The Denny family has run the operation since 1988.
COME PREPARED
The winery is open for tastings on Saturdays and Sundays, from noon to 4 p.m.
