Pennypack Preserve
More than 700 acres of natural meadows and woodlands
Get Involved
Help preserve and restore critical open space. The Pennypack Trust gets support from charitable foundation grants, environmental research grants and modest governmental appropriations but relies on more than 1,000 member households.
More than eight miles of trails wind through this linked network of open fields and woodlands that Pennypack Trust preserves and restores. The preserve, established in an effort to extend the stretch of natural lands nearby Lorimer and Pennypack Park and help protect the waters of Pennypack Creek, is now the largest privately owned parcel of natural land in Montgomery County.
You’ll find creekside paths, rolling hills, spectacular views and one of the region’s few old-growth forests on this network of restored farmlands. All trails offer excellent opportunities for hiking, walking and bird watching, while some are also open for bicycles and horseback riding.
COME PREPARED
The preserve is open during daylight hours. Dogs must be leashed and are not permitted on all trails. The trust is currently constructing information kiosks at key trailheads, increasing trail maintenance, installing trail signage and improving the surfaces of heavily-used trails.
DON'T MISS
The Pennypack Trust gift shop, located in the visitors center, offers birdfeeders, books, garden sculptures and more. All proceeds go toward land preservation and restoration.
