June is Black Music Month, and the city is celebrating with festivals, concerts and plenty of great Philly soul.
Black Music Month kicks off with The Roots Picnic at Penn's Landing on June 6. Philly's hometown heroes have assembled a diverse lineup of talent, including The Black Keys, Public Enemy, Santigold and more for a full day of incredible music.
June is also host to two of Philly's biggest festivals: Odunde African-American Festival and the West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival, offering two weekends worth of music, dancing and culture.
The fun isn't confined to huge festivals; jazz lovers must check out Warmdaddy's, Ortlieb's and Chris' Jazz Café for renowned performers, including both local and international jazz musicians.
