Weekly Events

Each week, we highlight some of the best activities for the coming weekend right here. From cultural events to family festivals, we've got your weekend plans covered. Be sure to come back every Thursday to see what's coming!

For more information on what to do this weekend, be sure to make a stop at our Events Calendar or at your favorite Cultural Attraction for a list of upcoming events.

This Week's Events:

Faerie Con: The International Faerie Convention
Pennsylvania Convention Center
October 10-12th, 2008

Wing wearing faerie lovers of all ages converge once again in The Pennsylvania Convention Center on October 10-12 for FaerieCon International, the largest gathering of faerie artists and authors in the world.

FaerieCon features a diverse Faerie Marketplace of over 130 booths filled with faerie books, art, jewelry, faerie fashion and beautiful handcrafts. Fans of faerie and fantasy can meet and get books signed by bestselling artists and authors.

Clark Park People's Flea Market
October 11, 2008
9 a.m. - 5 p.m., FREE

Head to University City and browse the goods over 80 vendors in beautiful Clark Park. Items for sale include refurbished bikes, vintage jewelry, music, books, foreign art, clothing, and lots of great food.

Sinners, Scandals & Suicides
Laurel Hill Cemetery
October 12, 2008
2 p.m., $15

Laurel Hill has its brave military heroes like George Gordon Meade, its uplifting reformers like Sarah Josepha Hale, and selfless philanthropists like Robert Carson. But what about the less than pure spirits?

The South Philly gangster who got whacked when he tried to infiltrate the Schuylkill County numbers racket? The chemical heiress who lost her money in an infamous Broadway bomb starring the producer's talentless girlfriend?

The final resting places of these troubled souls will be among the many stops on our tour of Laurel Hill's scandalous, sinful and sordid side.

Freddy’s Fallfest
Freddy Hill Farms
October 11-12, 2008
Saturday:  Noon-10:00 pm; Sunday: Noon - 6:00 pm, FREE

Join Freddy Hill Farms for hayrides to pick your own pumpkins, pig races, the amazing cornstalk maze, giant slide, pony rides, crafts, food and more. The farms include two beautiful miniature golf courses, a scenic driving range, batting cages, a farm zoo, delicious homemade ice cream and fresh milk from our own cows.
