Art Museums and Galleries: Multicultural
Not all art is in a museum. That's especially true in Philadelphia, where many of the city's neighborhoods have a definite artisitc flair.
The giant murals that dot the city’s landscape have captured the attention of the nation. Hop aboard an old-fashioned trolley to tour some of the hundreds of murals that have been created since the Mural Arts Project began decorating neighborhoods more than 20 years ago.
Built in 1976, the African American Museum in Philadelphia was the nation's first museum erected by a major municipality dedicated to interpreting the history, lives and work of African Americans. It remains one of the premier centers of African American heritage in the country.
