Outsider Tip
The side of the train facing west offers the most scenic views of the countryside.
Volunteer
The all-volunteer railroad is always looking for helpers.
On Sundays, Memorial Day through Christmas, take your seat on a vintage rail car for a seven-mile, 90-minute roundtrip ride through the Brandywine countryside. You'll spot wildlife one minute and a nostalgic trip through a small town the next.
Pack a lunch and have a picnic at Glen Mills and catch the next return train. Or enjoy a snack in the Snack Bar Car, a restored baggage car. After the train arrives at its Glen Mills destination, tour the restored Victorian station, now a museum with railroad and historic artifacts.
COME PREPARED
Wheelchairs can be accommodated but you should make advance arrangements.
DON'T MISS
“Von Runstedt’s Express” in June; a World War II re-enactment of American and German troops. “The Great Train Robbery” in September; a kid-friendly re-enactment of a 1920s train robbery.
