General Description
"Buy Fresh, Buy Local" is the guiding force of Southwark Restaurant and Bar.
Chef Sheri Waide sources her ingredients from 12+ local farms and co-ops to ensure that Southwark's produce, dairy and meats are at their peak of freshness and flavor.
What results in one of the freshest and most dynamic Contemporary American menus in the region, as evidenced by Southwark's recent inclusion in Philadelphia Magazine's Top 50 Restaurants.
Food + Drink
A meal at Southwark begins with a small plate selection (or several, if you're sharing). Offerings include a goat cheese plate, mahi mahi and the "Farmhouse Platter," consisting of artisan cheeses, meats, fruit, nuts, olives and bread.
The main courses, while simple in title, involve complex, sublimely fresh flavors. Much has been made of the pork chop — dressed with wild rice and Asian pears — while the oven-roasted chicken with ham, arugula and honey butter is a flavorful taste of home.
Doubling as a "speakeasy" of sorts, Southwark's handsome bar dishes out classic cocktails (Gimlet, Tom Collins and Dark 'n Stormy fill the bill of fare), as well as notable microbrews, rare gins and several dozen rye selections.
